summer is getting summery

The month of July was more rain than sun. I was getting seriously jealous of the heat wave that struck Ontario! But this last week has been hot and sunny- that's what I'm talking about. I have a serious obsession with the sun. Here are some pics of the beaches and some other random bits. The apartment building is of one of the many waterfront residential areas in Stockholm. The grey picture of the boardwalk is what July looked like. The cup is at one of my favorite coffee houses that serves fair trade coffee, amazingly with refills!

Swedish cows and knacke bread

There is no shortage of amazing restaurants in this town. When we were thinking about moving here I had no idea Swedish gastronomy was so advanced and delicious. There are good meals to be had at every corner at another unique little establishment. The traditional fare includes fish roe, shrimp, cured meats, knäckebröd (crisp rye bread), lots of mayonnaise, all kinds of fish, and meatballs of course.
I was lucky to go on a canoe trip with some Canadian friends last week. I was amazing to paddle again, it's been to long since I steered a canoe. We had a great view of the countryside as we paddled down a small river and that's where these shots of the cows and fields came from. I hope to get out in a boat again this summer.
